The Philippines participated in the January 2005 – World Conference on Disaster Reduction (WCDR) in Kobe, Japan where the ten-year action plan "HFA 2005 – 2015: Building Resilience of Nations and Communities to Disasters" was unanimously adopted by all the Member Countries. In the 9th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM), the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UN/ISDR) requested the ASEAN Member Countries (AMCs) to provide information in the implementation of the Hyogo Framework of Action (HFA) in the respective countries to be compiled and presented at the Global Platform for DRR on 5-7 June 2007 in Geneva.

Draft SNAP presented to TMG-NDCC
Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, QUEZON CITY – Taking some of the final steps to the development of the Strategic National Action Plan (SNAP) on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the Philippines, the draft plan was presented to the Technical Management Group of the National Disaster Coordinating Council at the AFP Commissioned Officer Club (AFPCOC), 18 June 2008.

DRR managers and stakeholders converge for SNAP drafting
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City – The National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) and its Secretariat the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) fired up first quarter 2008 as it held a Consultative Meeting with leading agencies on the formulation of the Strategic National Action Plan (SNAP) for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the Philippines last 31 March 2008.
Sustaining initiatives on DRR Multi-stakeholder hold 2nd national dialogue
Mandaluyong City – Forging the multi-stakeholder undertaking on Disaster Risk Reduction, the National Disaster Coordinating Council-Office of Civil Defense (NDCC-OCD) will conduct the 2nd National Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Disaster Risk Reduction on 29-30 April 2008 at the EDSA Shangri-La Hotel with Vice President Noli de Castro as Guest of Honor and Speaker during the opening ceremony.
